History of Wennington in 1855
Wennington is a parish and village, near to the shore of the Thames, in Chafford
Hundred, Romford Union, South Essex, 2 miles from the Rainham station of the
London, Tilbury and Southend railway, 2 miles north west of Purfleet, 7 ½ east
of barking, 8 west of Orsett and 14 from London, with an area of 1,285 acres,
and a population, in 1851, of 177. The
